We cut work to go eat cake at this place. All the cakes are soooooooo good! Marites loves the red velvet cake. Helen loves the yellow cake (with pink frosting of course). The Cuban sandwiches are mighty good, and the grilled ham and cheese is yummy too. Definitely worth the trip to the city during work. There are three locations, but the one on 71st Street is closest to us.

K&M Tip: Order the GORGONZOLA BREAD
The bread. OMG, the bread. Its so addicting, you're guaranteed to think about it one last time before you go to bed. The crusty but soft garlic bread is drowning in a pool of garganzola cream sauce. So you know, you gotta save the bread and eatit really fast. We haven't met one person who badmouthed our best friend, Bread. While everyone loves the San Benedetto, the Chicken Diavolo always reminds me that I'm the happiest person alive.

This place wasn't bad. The food wasn't "to die for". I think I'd rather have Luger's or Dylan Prime...

Do all Australian ice cream parlors make their ice cream like clouds? It tastes like soft serve ice cream that's been pumped with air. It's even better when you have caramel swirls and toffee bits in it...

It is almost impossible to get reservations at this place. The food takes very long to come out. We were pretty impressed with all the appetizers and pasta dishes, but if we do go back to Babbo's, we are skipping the meat section. How come Mario Batali has red hair? Isn't he Italian?

We loved this place. They serve homemade vanilla, lemon and chocolate marshmallows. OMG they were all yummy! The oopsy daisy cake was the cake of the month when we went. It really deserves its title because it was so moist and buttery. We absolutely loved it. The coconut macaroons werent so great as Balthazar's and The Chocolate Room.
Balthazar Restaurant and Bakery
80 Spring Street
New York, NY
We wanted to eat in the restaurant but there were so many people crowded on the corner waiting for a seat. Instead, we managed to squeeze ourselves into their tiny (and crowded) bakery next door. All their pastries and cakes were good but the chocolate dipped coconut macaroons with blueberries were our favorite. We were so upset when we found out that those macaroons are only made on the week of Easter. Why would they do such a thing??? =(

We ate almost everthing on the menu - Memphis babyback ribs, St Louis ribs, salt and pepper beef ribs, Kansas City ribs, beef brisket, applewood smoked chicken, hot links, pulled pork, deviled eggs, sweet potato fries with creamy maple sauce, mac and cheese and finally the fry bread with chipotle butter. Can you imagine how full we were?
When Kathy and Ed was there, they ate the same thing plus a tray of the dessert sampler. They're champions!

There are eight flavors to choose from. All are made with cream, and has no eggs or milk. The strawberry and vanilla were sooooooo good! There’s also coffee, peaches & cream, chocolate chip, etc. The owner needs to get a new a/c unit. It is so hot in there that the ice cream starts dripping off the cone while you are paying for it!

A fat man's nightmare. We were not full when we came out. Our bill for four was approx. $250.00. Hey, but the sweetbread was damn good. The decor and service was great. Its very posh upstairs and "clubby" in the downstairs bar area. They have cool bathrooms with frosted glass doors.

The infamous macaroni and cheese wasn’t so great, but everything else was good. The pear & watercress salad, chicken fried steak, meatloaf and crab cakes were all good. The desserts are pretty good too. We heard that J Lo & Mariah Carey like the waffle banana split, so we tried one too. It was awesome. Yummy!

Please note that this place opens at 3 PM. If you go any earlier you will have to walk around the neighborhood like idiots, going into each boutique on the block and pretend youre getting married so you could look at wedding dresses. This tiny store only serves dessert. We had vanilla sorbet with apple soup, almond cake with almond ice cream, caramel panna cotta with sparkling wine, homemade marshmallow with toasted coconut and some other stuff I cant remember.

Everything we had here was really good. I guess this is why they are in the top ten chocolate desserts list in New York City. The famous chocolate layer cake was so moist and fudgy, the Valrhona chocolate sorbet was so addicting and the coconut sorbet and chocolate/strawberry shortcake were treats we happened to come across because they were daily specials. We almost ordered the brownie sundae but the waitress stopped us. We took some coconut macaroons to go.

This place is known for the best biscuits. We had a country platter with grilled ham steak, hash browns, eggs and a biscuit (which we smothered a side of hollandaise sauce all over the dish), and we also had blueberry buttermilk pancakes with warm maple butter syrup. They also serve homemade donuts with passionfruit custard, key lime curd or chocolate cream. This is what you call a complete breakfast. =)

We liked the sides more than the meats. You HAVE to try the cheddar corn side dish. The brisket sandwich is better at Blue Smoke but the ribs are better at Daisy May's. They have a large selection of sides for you to choose from.

It's always a treat to have your very own pizza pie made by yur grandpa right in front of your eyes. It's just a shame when your grandpa has twenty grandchildren in the house and takes 30 min to make a pie. If there was a survey that showed which restaurant had the most patient customers, this place would be #1 without a doubt. Although it takes so long before you get your order, no one would ever have the heart to get mad at the sweet old man that's making NY's best pizza.

A bit overpriced but tasty. These New Zealand style pies are about the same size as a beef patty and are about $4.00 each. The chopped steak with mushrooms tasted like a jamaican beef patty in a flaky pie shell. The chunky steak with cheese was really good too. They also serve breakfast pies like bacon, egg and cheese. It wouldve been better if the egg was gooey like an over-easy egg but I guess it would eventually cook all the way in the warming oven that they leave all their pies in. They have this cake with coconut flakes on top (I dont remember the name of the cake) but it was really good.

This huge restaurant is located on Freeport's Nautical Mile. They have an outdoor bar with a live band performing at the stage. The view is great and the place is packed with party animals. The food was good but nothing special. The bucket of mussels tasted like ass but the sweet potato fries were great. If we went back to the Nautical Mile, we would try another restaurant instead of going back to this place. EB Elliot's were the busiest of all restaurants on the strip but it's probably because it's the biggest and loudest place on the strip.

Wow, this guy really does know how to cook. The restaurant is in the City Walk section of Universal Studios. The decor is very classy, but comfortable enough to walk in with shorts. The signature cupcake that they have are so buttery. Yum, yum. The Icebox Cake was heavenly. I was very excited about the vanilla lemon bundt cake, but the one in Starbuck's was way better. We had to eat in the park across the street because there were so many people standing on line inside the bakery. It was close to 12AM (the time they close) and we couldn't even budge, my goodness. It seemed like there were a bunch of cake druggies in there. You definitely have to get a large banana pudding before you go home.

All we can think of this place is the colorful storefront that's made up of all the different colored coats pressed up against the glass. There's always so many people waiting on line to be seated. The noodles are pretty good though. You should also try the steamed bun (the one that East buffet serves with the Peking duck) that is served with Berkshire pork belly, cucumbers and some sauce. K&M Tip: Everything is so good…. For your next trip think of coming here.
OMG restaurant ever! Ordering almost the whole menu is much more enjoyable than the tasting menu they offer. You MUST have the chicken noodle soup and the tuna pizza. There are other dishes that you HAVE to try, but there are so many, I might end up listing the whole menu. Yum, thinking about Morimoto's food is making my mouth water. The decor is very nice, and the service was great too. The problem about this restaurant is that its too far from home and quite expensive.. Our bill for four people was approx. $500.00. Even so, it is definitely worth the trip and money.

This restaurant is beautiful! A chandelier made of waterbottles from the basement floor to the ceiling of the first floor, heated toilets, Lumicor bar counter, precast concrete columns... it doesn't look like it belongs in Manhattan. This place is huge! The Philly location is really nice but this was a totally different experience. We got to order our favorite dishes but paid double the cost of what the Philly restaurant charges and it wasn't as great as what we remembered it to be. The 10 hr pork wasnt fork tender and the chicken ramen soup wasn't as "chickeny". About half of NY's menu was similar to Philly's menu, but we decided to try new dishes like the ribeye with soy sauce, duck-duck-duck, curry bread and soy milk ice cream.

Wow, this place made us very happy. We haven't had good Italian food in a while. This place has become Ed's favorite Italian restaurant. It felt like we were sitting in an Italian granny's kitchen. The waiter greeted us as if we were guests at his home. The soft shell crab appetizers were really good. I ordered penne pasta with meatballs and hard boiled eggs in Bolognese sauce, all wrapped in a puff pastry drum. Marites ordered pasta with a whole bunch of veggies, meats, and cheese. Our boyfriends had pasta with duck, and this swordfish dish that was so yummy! I really wanted to try their veal chop stuffed with garganzola cheese, but the menu changes seasonally. We'll be back!

Also known as New York’s No. 1 steakhouse. You wouldn’t find better Porterhouse anywhere in New York. Side dishes such as hash browns, thick slices of Canadian bacon, and creamed spinach go very well with the steak. This is a very masculine restaurant, but is also able to steal any woman’s heart. The place looks so run down, but I guess that’s just part of the experience.

K&M Tip: Don’t waste you time. Much better restaurants around the neighborhood.
The food wasn't that great. The guys loved the mussels. I wanted to go down the block and eat Nick's pizza.

There are almost a hundred different flavors to choose from. It’s very interesting.. Cherry Garcia and Jelly Ring are two of our favorites… There are many other locations, but we juss listed the ones we’ve been to.

I never knew it was possible to make so many different rice pudding flavors and toppings. You can choose toppings such as pound cake croutons and graham cracker on almond flavored rice pudding, chocolate hazelnut, butterscotch.... Best of all, you get nice tupperware to take home =)

K&M Tip: Jackets Required. Very expensive, nice view.
Nice restaurant with an asshole host. He sat all the minorities in the sucky seats with no view. We hated him. Other than the prick, the food and service was pretty good. There were broiled scallops were floating in our lobster creme soup. Marites & Reinhard had soft shell crab and cream soup. The pear salad with garganzola, gnocchi with shredded pork, pear sorbet, etc. were really good too. We also ate the Brooklyn Bridge, chomp chomp!

K&M Tip: Have the Short Ribs appetizer
Hawaiian fusion restaurant. It was ok, but we'd rather go somewhere else.
No one was crazee about any of the dishes. Poor Reinhard ordered a
ginger creme brulee which made him wanna yack. The chocolate souffle
was way too bitter and sweet. Poor Reinhard...he hated everything he ordered that night.

K&M Tip: Have the Steamers
The clam steamers bucket was really good. I was surprised that this hole in the wall had good seafood. I don’t know why I ordered a shrimp salad but I could have done without it and ordered another bucket of steamers.

All the restaurants in City Island basically serve the same food. Sammy's looks the biggest and busiest place on the strip. There wasn't anything special though...They serve by the bulk …. A lot of food with no taste. Go across the street for some latin flavor.

K&M Tip: Long wait but worth the sugar rush.
The frozen hot chocolate, strawberry fields sundae and the forbidden
chocolate sundae are our favorites. The food ain't that great though.. I think the local diners in Queens can do a better job.

K&M Tip: Don’t forget to order the calamari
Everyone walked out with a big Kool-Aid smile. Who wouldn't, after eating the world's best calamari appetizer, and a huge, "fucking good" piece of steak! Reinhard and I loved the seafood tiered platter they gave us. We all had different steaks; the prime rib, filet mignon, rib-eye, and the Cajun rib-eye. Everything was mm, mm good.
Sripraphai

Authentic Thai food that Thai people eat. I don't think they would eat Americanized Thai food. What's even better is that they have desserts on the counter such as custard with sticky rice, homemade cream puffs and banana bread.
The Stanton Social 99 Stanton Street, New York, NY 10002 (212) 982-4587
All the dishes are appetizer sized so that pigs like us can order 8 dishes on the brunch menu! We were starving when we got there so we ordered a lot. First, we gobbled up the apple bacon, cheddar and onion frittata in 2.5 seconds. Then we had 5 sliders - Kobe burger, lobster roll, pulled BBQ pork, biscuit and sausage with gravy and the monte cristo with an order of homemade fries which were served with chili mayo. We also had French onion soup dumplings that were probably inspired from the Chinese soup dumplings. Now that's how the first meal of every Saturday should be!
Tito Puente's – City Island
64 City Island Avenue,
City Island, NY 10464

K&M Tip: One of the best restaurants in City Island
The scrumptious lobster empanadas made my day. The paella for two would've fed a starving family of 6. This is a great place to take your whole family.

Our first date without the boys… Kathy must’ve filled herself up with the sourdough bread. For appetizers, we shared an ahi tuna salad with sesame noodles and a crab cake. Then we had a hangar steak and pork tenderloin with ribs. For dessert, we had warm apple cake with almond brittle ice cream, and a banana tart with malted chocolate ice cream. The portions were ok and the food was pretty good too. This is a pretty restaurant with great service.

K&M Tip: Don’t go here, period
A Hawaiian themed restaurant with food from Cilantroland. The restaurant itself was really cute. The waitresses wore straw hats & bikini tops, and the storefront is a big cage of exotic birds. Seafood stew served in half a pineapple.. How good does that sound? Well, not if the stew is full of coconut sauce and cilantro! It was so traumatizing. This has been the worst experience ever! Ed and Kathy ordered take-out when they got home that night and Reinhard refuses to go to Hawaiian if the food tastes like this… |
